Our Buildings Team leader Paul Marron completed his epic 230 mile walk from Edinburgh to Wylam and made it home in time for Christmas. With your help an incredible total of £2,410 has been raised for Walking with the Wounded and Paul would like to say a huge thank you for your support. All of the money raised by everyone across the country who ‘walked home for Christmas’ will go to Walking with the Wounded’s ‘Home Straight’ programme, which aims to provide employment solutions for wounded, injured, sick, or mentally ill homeless veterans.
He set out from Edinburgh on the 17th December and headed down the John Muir way (named after a 19th century conservationist) to North Berwick, spending his nights sleeping on the beach. From North Berwick he went onto St Abb’s Head before crossing the border to reach Berwick. From there he continued down the coast to Seahouses, Blyth and Tynemouth, before eventually turning in land towards Newcastle. He made it to his father’s house in Wylam in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
Along his way, Paul met many wonderful and generous people to whom he would also like to say thank you.
